HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TO FEED A PUPPY

Pups, like small babies, need a lot of nutrients and protein to grow up healthy. So, when you have just brought a puppy home, it is important to help the puppy develop a good diet. The dog's menu must be rich in nutrients, dry dog food and wet dog food should be included, and from time to time to buy snack dog food for the puppy. If you want to change the pattern, you can also make dog food for the puppy yourself.

1.   For the first four weeks, let the puppy eat milk first.
Breast milk contains nutrients that allow the puppy to grow healthily and physically strong, so the first month after the puppy is born, the puppy should be given milk. If the puppy has difficulty eating milk, help the puppy put his mouth on the mother's nipple.

·         If you let the puppy weaned too early, health will be affected, and even if you grow up, you are more likely to get sick.
·         If the dog's mother has insufficient milk, she can buy milk powder instead. Feed the dog food after four weeks.

2.     After four weeks, start with a small amount of dog food for the puppy. When the dog is at the right time, it will start eating dog food, usually around a month. Feed the dog a dry dog food and feed it bit by bit. Let it adapt. Put a small amount of dry dog food in a small bowl. You can also pour some milk in the bowl, so that the food is softer and the puppy can adapt better.

·         Be sure to find dog food designed for puppies, not adult dogs, because puppies contain 25% to 40% more protein.

·         Puppies need twice as much energy as adult dogs, so adult dog food is not suitable for puppies. Be sure to feed the puppies with the right food.

·         There is nothing wrong with snack food dog food, but remember that snacks can only account for up to 5% of puppy food. To make a puppy grow stronger, make sure that it is based on healthy.

3.  it is best to buy a brand of dog food from the beginning. If you are already eating a brand of dog food before taking the dog home, then it is best not to change the brand immediately.

For puppies, it is difficult to adapt to the taste and food texture of the new brand. You can change it bit by bit and adapt the dog to the time to prevent the puppy from getting sick or anorexia because of the sign.

·         Put the puppy in the first few days of the house and let it eat the same brand as before. Then you can slowly add new branded food to the bowl and mix it with the old one. Next, you can gradually replace the old brand with the new brand of dog food.
·         This transitional phase should last for about seven days.

4.   It is appropriate to know how much food should be fed to the puppy. Different body types and needs are different from eating habits. You can check the information first to find out what kind of puppy you are, and how much to feed.

If you are not sure, you can ask the veterinarian. The amount of food given to a puppy depends on how much heat it needs to maintain a healthy weight and size.
·         The vet will help you figure out how much you should feed and how long it should take to change the dog food brand, so don't follow the instructions on the package to determine the amount of feeding.

·         Ultra-small dogs will develop their eating habits and will not eat too much, so they can let them eat freely and how much they need. For medium-sized dogs and large dogs, if you give too much, you may overdose. Feed the puppy three times a day. In addition, take the food away and put it out of reach.

5.    Do not feed the puppy at the table.
When you eat, you may want to feed it with bacon, ham, etc., but don't do it. To stay healthy, puppies need a diet of a specific structure, and enough nutrients have been obtained from dog food.

Human food is not good for the puppy's stomach and may cause other problems such as obesity.   When the puppies grow up, they can be fed some easy-to-digest food, such as a little peanut butter.

·         But remember, the more human food you feed your puppy, the more it wants it, which can interfere with your training process and cause trouble.
